Nowadys, YouTube is full of garbage. I cannot stand almost every aspect of the average modern YouTuber. The extreme facial expressions in thumbnails, the over-edited intros, the captions at the bottom of the screen (as if YouTube doesn't have a system built-in for that purpose...), the sponsors, etc. You're not allowed to make certain jokes, say certain things, or have certain opinions. With all that being said, there are very few YouTubers that are worth watching in current year. I decided to start compiling a list of some that I enjoy watching.
LGR, formerly known as LazyGameReviews, makes videos about retro computers, games (duh), software, and other computer/game related stuff. He never gets political, he never accepts sponsorships, he just talks about some old software/hardware in a very calm way. His videos are great, and usually pretty long.
Similar to LGR, Bringus makes videos about technology and games. His videos are more edited, but not to the point where it's annoying to watch. He's also quite funny, but it's very retarded zoomer humor that millennials would hate. He has a weird obsession with installing SteamOS on any device he can get his hands on. Great YouTuber though.
Mostly content about video games. For example, getting all 59 achievements on Minecraft for the Nintendo 3DS, attempting to 'beat' Tomodachi Life in one day, and Minecraft on the Apple TV. His most recent video was about the Nintendo Switch 2, and why you shouldn't buy it. He makes pretty good points in my opinion. He only has 82.4K subscribers as of writing this, but I think his channel will continue to grow. He's very funny, and makes topics that are otherwise pretty mundane interesting.
This is the most tolerable normie YouTuber I (sometimes) watch. He's pretty funny at times. His videos make for good background noise. His content is strictly gaming. I don't watch CaseOh that often, but if I have nothing else to watch or I want some background noise, his videos do the job. He streams on Twitch but I refuse to use Twitch so I just watch his YouTube highlights.
This channel is about testing older technology (primarily computers) to see how they perform today. Older GPUs, CPUs, prebuilts, laptops, phones, etc. As is the case with almost every other channel listed here, this channel never brings up politics and doesn't do sponsorships as far as I'm aware.
The most underrated channel I've listed here. Green Ham Gaming is a channel run by a guy called Tim. Even the oldest videos on this channel from 2014 still hold up quite well. As the channel description states, "relaxed and goofy tech videos." is what this channel is all about. I discovered this channel a very long time ago and I'm glad to see Tim still uploading new videos (albeit infrequently). Go check it out.
As of writing (April 18, 2025), it has officially been a little over two years since Luke Smith last uploaded. Regardless, he has a great catalog of videos over the years. Luke makes videos about Linux, religion, philosophy, crypto (mainly Monero XMR), and other stuff. He's mostly known for his Linux tutorials and 'Boomer Rants in Woods' series. Some speculate that he didn't see a need to upload anymore videos because he has nothing else to say, which is respectable. He recently did an 'interview' with another YouTuber in which he claimed he has a few more videos to upload after Lent (which ended yesterday as of writing). Luke does get slightly political sometimes. He's not obnoxious about it, but it's something to keep in mind I suppose. He's a bald, bald man.
Mental Outlaw is a guy called Kenny. He makes videos about Linux, current events (mostly regarding tech), crypto, general technology related topics, and you can't forget his famous cooking videos. He made some really great videos 3-5 years ago on increasing your privacy online, and he's kind of the reason I started using Linux. I found his channel in 2021 when he had around 100K. He doesn't make videos like that anymore, instead focusing on current happenings mostly. I'd still recommend his channel regardless.
Videos about Linux, old computers, technology, etc. Cozy vibes. Lurks /g/ based on him visiting /g/ in one of his videos. Cool channel, 7/7.
